In February 2024, the Pannwitz group moved to Jena within the framework of the endowed CZS juniorprofessorship with tenure track for Sustainable molecular catalysis for energy conversion and focus on light-driven processes. The grand theme of our research targets the valorization of (sun)light energy. We apply the concept of compartmentalization via biomimetic membranes as well as light-induced energy and electron transfer for catalytic water splitting.

  • Chemical synthesis of coordination and organic compounds
  • Artificial photosynthesis in lipid bilayer vesicles
  • Light-driven molecular catalysis: e.g. H2 evolution, CO2 reduction, water oxidation
  • Steady state and time resolved spectroscopy (ns-microseconds, UV-vis)
